Becky was out for her sister-in-law, Kate’s birthday and Greg was out with his brother Geoff who was visiting from Alberta. Rarely would you find Greg or Becky at Thorny Devils but that night fate had them both there. A friend brought Greg to Becky’s table after finding out he was a teacher, as becky was too. They spent the rest of the night talking and getting to know each other. At the end of the night Greg and Becky both exchanged numbers. Against all male protocol, Greg messaged her the very next morning. They had planned to go bowling the following Saturday but after texting back and forth all week, they decided to get together a little sooner. Their first date was skating in Victoria Park followed by Starbucks. The rest is history..
Fast forward a while and one night Greg had secretly arranged plans for him and Becky to go on a hot air balloon ride and was able to keep it a secret right up to the day they planned to go. Their flight was scheduled to go up May 10th, depending on the weather conditions. They got confirmation saying it was a go and Greg showed up at Becky’s place with flowers. They got to the meeting site and were driven into a field. They then waited while they got the balloon ready. The wind gusts were still strong but they were dwindling out so the two of them sat and waited. Eventually, a very apologetic man told them that they were going to have to cancel and reschedule as it was getting late and the winds weren’t letting up. They packed up and drove them back to their car. They decided to go for frozen yogurt (the next best thing) and back to Becky’s place for a movie. Once they were back, Greg started saying really nice sweet things about Becky and their relationship and how this wasn’t how he had planned it but he didn’t want to wait. He got down on one knee and asked Becky to marry him! They then got to celebrate with a hot air balloon ride later on.
